Booking

We are no longer taking advance bookings, and places are no longer available for the Gala Dinner or accommodation.
Please feel free attend the AGM simply by turning up on the day. The entry fee on the door will be £15 per day, or £25 for both days.

Venue

The venue for the AGM is Gosford Hill Sports Centre, Kidlington, Oxford, OX5 2NU.
There are changing facilies and showers available. The sports centre also sells coffee and refreshments.
The Squire Basset pub across the road from the venue does lunches, and there are numerous shops and a supermarket within walking distance.

The Pub

The pub where we will meet on Friday evening is the Squire Bassett, the big yellow building on the left visible from the bus stop. The Squire Bassett serves food all day, and has a large and varied menu. We will be in the pub on the Friday evening from about 6 pm.

Local Food

2 minutes walk back towards Oxford is a fish and chip shop on the left hand side of the road, heading towards Oxford, and a Chinese restaurant. Indian food and Pizza can be found in the centre of Kidlington a mile in the opposite direction.

Gala Dinner

The Gala Dinner will be held on Saturday 27 November. Those who have booked to attend the Gala Dinner will need to be at Rewley House at 6.30 (sharp). Rewley House is on the corner of St John's Street and Wellington Square, in the centre of Oxford (Please see the 2nd map on the info sheet). There is very little parking in the centre of Oxford, parking meter rates are typically in the order of £1.50 per hour. We strongly suggest that everyone takes a bus into the centre of Oxford, the return fare to Kidlington will be £2.30.

Tournament

For your delectation we present The Rules for the tournament.

Directions

The Sports Hall, Pub and accommodation are all indicated on the first map in the info sheet (PDF).

Arriving by Train: Leave Oxford train station and turn left on the main road, then follow the road for about half a mile. The road will go over a smalll bridge, then bear round to the left. After the bridge, cross the road at the pedestrian crossing and continue straight on towards Oxford city centre along George Street. Follow the directions for local buses given below.

Arriving by Coach: Get off the coach at Oxford bus station (Gloucester Green). Leave the bus station by walking to your right, past the Welsh Pony pub, and onto George Street. Turn left, and follow the directions for local buses.

Local buses: From George Street continue along until you reach a cross road with Debenhams on the left, and Nat West on the right. Turn left, and catch a bus from the Magdalen St stands in front of Debenhams and Borders.
You need a number 2 (A, B or C) or 7 (A or B). Ask for a ticket to Kidlington, single fare is about £1.50.
Ask the driver to let you off at the Gosford Hill Sports Centre (if you look out for Sainsbury's supermarket on your right just after a roundabout, you want the second stop after you pass it). Drivers might also know the 'Squire Bassett' pub (see below).
The venue is the Gosford Hill Sports Centre, on the opposite side of the road.

Arriving by Car

M40 heading South: leave M40 at Junction 9, and take the A34 south towards Oxford. After 1 mile take the exit to Kidlington. After 500 m turn left at the small roundabout. Continue on to the next roundabout turn right onto Oxford Road. Follow the directions below.

M40 heading North: leave M40 at Junction 8, continue along the A40 until you reach Headington Roundabout. Take the 3rd exit (A40) continue along to Cutteslow roundabout. Take the 3rd Exit (right) towards Kidlington. Go straight over the next roundabout (3rd exit) which brings you into Oxford Road. Follow the directions below.

A34 heading North: leave A34 at Pear Tree interchange (the third Oxford junction). At the roundabout filter left towards Kidlington, and then at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit (right) to Kidlington. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit (left) into Oxford Road. Follow the directions below.

From Oxford Road: Heading north, go past Sainsbury's (on your right). After the first pedestrian crossing turn right into the service road that runs parallel to Oxford Road, and continue north for half a mile. The Gosford Hill Sports Centre is on your right, less than 1 mile from Sainsbury's.

Accommodation

We have a limited amount of space available in a local hall that may be used for overnight accomodation on the Friday and Saturday nights. The cost for this facility is £10 per person. The Hall has toilets and a small kitchen, and is heated. You must provide your own sleeping equipment. The hall is approximately half a mile from the Sports Centre (and pub).

Directions

Leaving the pub, turn left (or right from the Sports Hall) and walk along the road 100 yards until you reach a road leading off to the right (Bicester Road), at a set of traffic lights. There is a carwash on one side of the turning, and a car sales outfit on the other. This is also where the service roads on either side of the main road stop. Turn right into Bicester Road, then turn immediately left into Blenheim Road. Walk along Blenheim Road, round a bend to the right. You will see grass areas on the left and right of the road, with small blocks of flats. Continue past the flats, and look for the sign for the Scout Centre, on the right, opposite Honor Close, and before the end of Blenheim Road.

The nearest Bed and Breakfast accommodation is at the The Wise Alderman, Kidlington (7 rooms en suite, tel 01865 372281). The nearest Hotel is The Bowood House Hotel (21 Rooms en-suite, tel. 01865 842288), just across the road from the venue.
